We are excited to confirm that Esmaeil Torkzad, an accomplished filmmaker, producer, and editor, will be joining the jury panel for the Imo International Film Festival (ImoIFF) 2024, taking place from 28th to 30th November 2024 in Owerri, Nigeria.
With over two decades of experience in the global film industry, Esmaeil brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective to this prestigious role. His journey in cinema began with a passion for storytelling, and he has since evolved into a dynamic figure in the fields of editing, producing, and international film distribution. A graduate of Tehran University of Art, where he earned both a Bachelor’s in Cinema and a Master’s in Dramatic Literature, Esmaeil has built a distinguished career across various facets of filmmaking.
Key Achievements
- Editing Expertise: Esmaeil has worked extensively in editing for TV series, feature films, and documentaries. One of his most notable projects was “Muhammad: The Messenger of God”, a major production in Iranian cinema directed by Majid Majidi, where he was responsible for the synchronization and assembly of this landmark film.
- Film Production: Since 2018, he has been producing, writing, and editing short films and promotional content, as well as working on a reality TV series titled “Plug In.”
- International Distribution: Esmaeil has played a pivotal role in distributing independent Iranian films worldwide, showcasing the richness and diversity of Iranian cinema to global audiences.
- Independent Cinema: His contributions to independent filmmaking, including films like “Conditional Release” and “Bermuda”, highlight his dedication to telling compelling, authentic stories.
